The Marianne Strokirk Salons – with Chestnut and Oak Street locations – are truly a staple of the Chicago beauty industry. Hair maven Marianne and her team of more than 60 expert professionals have been cutting Chicagoans’ hair (to their utter delight!) for more than 20 years.     A Swedish native, Strokirk quite literally grew up in the industry since her father owned a salon outside of Stockholm where she developed a strong sense of style and a deep respect for technique and innovation. Her work has been featured in editorial features from Vogue to Harper’s Bazaar to Allure. She has even cut Hilary Rodham Clinton, Maria Shriver and Diane Sawyer’s hair!  Marianne’s focus on excellence is transmitted to all her employees, and clients can even snag complementary services like waxing and nailcare while they look after their locks!
We asked management to share some of Marianne Strokirk’s secret sauce with PrettyQuick’s editors:  How do they achieve such level of quality in both of their locations? Furthermore, how do they manage to sustain such a high level of craftsmanship among their stylists?
The answer is simple though it is far from easy. As Marianne’s daughter, Alex, explained to the PrettyQuick team, one of the biggest and most crucial ingredients to the Marianne Strokirk Salons recipe is their intensive training program. All Marianne Strokirk stylists undergo a 2 year apprenticeship under Marianne herself!  This incredibly  rigorous training includes countless models and detailed work.  After this make-or-break training, the stylists who make it to the floor here are sure to posses a high skill level starting from day one on the floor. At Marianne Strokirk each stylist earns the trust of their clients with excellence.  Each stylist on the floor has an incredible  knowledge of the hair’s “architecture” and how important it is when it comes to creating an individualized look for each guest.
