PrettyQuick: With your busy life (you have a full-time job, are a full-time mom, and you are the SpaTravel Gal, WOW!) how do you find the time to take care of yourself? When do you make time for your me-time?

Ava Roxanne: Plan, Plan, Plan. I have my calendar planned out at least 3 months ahead of time. This enables me to truly enjoy the entire day at the spa. The new Mandarin Oriental Atlanta Spa wants you to stay all day. Recently, I enjoyed just that, a #meday “ME Day” while I live tweeted every bit of relaxation. Take a look at my Me Time here. Next time we chat I will tell you how I managed to spend part of Christmas Day in a Spa and my family almost never missed me! It is my #1 holiday sanity tip for the holidays or vacations!

PrettyQuick: Absolutely! What is your favorite spa/salon treatment and why?

Ava: No Question, the Deluxe Facial. Facials are good for you and have long lasting effects for your skin, but many do not want to give up the relaxation of the massage. A deluxe facial usually involves hand, foot and scalp massages during the mask step of your facial. What more could you ask for! It is always my top pick of spa treatments!

PrettyQuick: Do you have any “time-saving” beauty tricks that keep you gorgeous on the go?

Ava: Time Savers like a Tinted Moisturizer with SPF Why? Quick, Easy, and Good for your Skin.

PrettyQuick: Describe one of your most memorable spa travel experiences.

Ava: For my birthday last year the much anticipated Spa Level was completed at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. The entire floor is dedicated to your health and wellness. The floor was only for those staying in the spa rooms or suites, which come with special amenities. The experience was incredible, it was like spending the night inside the spa! It was one of my best birthdays ever! See here why I named it the top spa suite in the US for 2013!

PrettyQuick: Picture this: You’ve landed in Chicago on a business trip and found out that one of your meetings was cancelled, what do you do with those treasured 2 hours?

Ava: First, I think about what beauty treatment my body needs the most at that moment or which treatments I haven’t had the chance to enjoy in a long time. For those who travel a lot for their jobs in those oh-so-comfortable airline seats, a massage may be first in line. If you travel to different climates for work your skin might be suffering the consequences, so a facial is a must. Just be sure to get facials at the end of the day if  possible, that way you can retire for the evening fresh faced without the need for your own nightly skincare duties.
